We are blessed to live in Albert Lea and the USA. It is a special summer as the country celebrates its 250th birthday! As a part of this historic summer, there will soon be 37 American flags installed along the fence of the Freeborn County Fairgrounds on Bridge Avenue welcoming everyone to Albert Lea.

A flag dedication ceremony will take place on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. on the east side of the Freeborn County Fairgrounds. Everyone is invited to attend this special event celebrating faith, freedom, and patriotism. This flag project was created to honor the nation’s Christian heritage, recognize those who have served, and provide a visible reminder of the values that unite our community. The flag display will remain in place through Flag Day (June 14), Independence Day (July 4), and the Freeborn County Fair, concluding shortly after the fair’s completion.

The acquisition and installation of the 37 illuminated flags is made possible by the volunteers from “Patriots for Jesus.”  As the flags fly in the breeze, they will “Paint the Town in Red, White, and Blue.” This flag project represents an effort to visibly celebrate America’s heritage while fostering greater community pride throughout Freeborn County.

Patriots for Jesus is a group of local citizens whose mission is to publicly promote Christian patriotism. We meet monthly to gather in prayer and promote initiatives that publicly promote Christian patriotism through community engagement, civic participation, and service projects that honor God, country, and community. Patriots for Jesus is a Community Action Team affiliate of Restore Minnesota.

I hope that everyone can join us for the flag dedication ceremony as we remember the blessings we have while living in America. Again, it is the “Paint the Town Red, White, and Blue” flag dedication ceremony on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. held on the East Side of the Freeborn County Fairgrounds in Albert Lea. The ceremony is hosted by Patriots for Jesus. This celebration is an opportunity for residents to come together, honor our nation, celebrate our freedoms, and seek God’s blessing on our community and country. See you there!
